At Village Early Learning, we understand the trust families place in us when they choose our care. Your child’s safety, health and wellbeing are our highest priorities.
We are committed to creating environments where every child feels secure, respected and supported. Our educators follow child safe practices that protect children’s rights, encourage participation and promote positive wellbeing in line with national regulations, quality standards and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Children are actively supervised throughout the day by qualified educators who provide attentive and responsive care.
We always meet or exceed required educator-to-child ratios, ensuring children receive the supervision and support they need throughout their day.
Our supervision practices include:
Creating safe environments starts with educators who are committed to protecting and supporting children. Our educators complete required Western Australian Working With Children Checks, child protection training and ongoing professional development to ensure they understand their responsibilities in creating safe, respectful and inclusive environments.
Our practices align with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, helping us create a culture where children’s voices are valued, their rights are respected and their wellbeing comes first.
Children thrive when they feel safe, understood and valued. Our educators take the time to understand each child’s individual needs, routines and development, creating a supportive environment where they can learn and grow.
Children have access to calm and comfortable spaces to rest according to their individual needs. Babies sleep in cots following Red Nose Australia safe sleep recommendations, with educators monitoring sleep environments and completing regular checks.
We help children build lifelong sun safety habits through everyday practices, including providing sun-safe hats, encouraging protective clothing, applying sunscreen and offering shaded outdoor play areas.
Water play is an important part of children’s exploration and learning. All water-based experiences are carefully planned and supervised, with risk assessments completed to ensure children’s safety.
We work hard to reduce allergy risks and support children with dietary requirements. While no environment can be guaranteed completely allergen-free, our procedures are designed to keep risks as low as possible and support safe, inclusive mealtimes.
For detailed information about our allergy-aware practices, dietary support and nutrition approach, please visit our Nutrition page.
We work closely with families to support children’s health and the wellbeing of our community. Families are asked to keep children home when they are unwell to support recovery and minimise the spread of illness.
If a child becomes unwell while at Village, families will be contacted, and we follow recognised health guidelines, including the NHMRC’s Staying Healthy guidelines for early childhood education and care, to support illness management and return to care.
For medication safety, all medication must be provided directly to an educator with a completed Medication Form. Medication must be clearly labelled, in its original packaging and within its expiry date. Our educators are trained in first aid and follow approved procedures for medical support.
We regularly practise emergency procedures, including evacuation drills, lockdown procedures and medical emergency responses, ensuring children and educators are prepared to respond calmly and safely.
In the event of an emergency, families will be contacted as soon as practicable once children and educators are safe.
